The goal of this study was on the one hand to give a comprehensive overview of the barriers for mobility-impaired travellers on trains, light-rails, and trams in Austria, and at the other hand to offer solutions to overcome these barriers. The outcome of the study is a catalogue of measures that simplifies rail travel for people with reduced mobility in Austria.

- Analysis of barriers for people with reduced mobility in current rail passenger transport (rolling stock as well as stops and stations) in Austria.
- Collection and structured survey of international good-practice examples for barrier-free accessibility and usability of rail passenger transport.
- Catalogue of measures that could practically be implemented in Austrian rail transport in order to ease travelling for people with reduced mobility.
